England Squad Announced for Hockey world cup 2023

It is with great pleasure that England Hockey announces the team that will represent England in the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in India, which will take place from 13-29 January 2023.

Following a successful Commonwealth Games this summer, England hopes to continue its progress in this 15th edition of the Men’s World Cup.

Nine players in the squad are playing for the first time at the World Cup: James Albery, Nick Bandurak, David Goodfield, James Mazarelo, Nick Park, Ollie Payne, Stuart Rushmere, Tom Sorsby and Sam Ward. The others were all part of the team that came fourth last time out in 2018, and for Harry Martin and David Condon it will be their third World Cup.

As captain, David Ames returns from injury, with James Albery and Zach Wallace as vice-captains, and Brendan Creed and Ian Sloan travelling as reserves.
