On both TV Asahi and Nippon TV, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be broadcast live.
All four channels have long-term rights to the Olympics, including the recent Tokyo 2020 Summer Games.
“These media rights deals demonstrate the significant local interest in next year’s event, which Japan will host jointly with the Philippines and Indonesia.”, said FIBA.
Additionally, the two broadcasters will also carry the Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. Although Japan has already qualified for the event as a host country, it is participating in the Qualifiers ahead of August 2023.
Since November last year, 80 national teams have been playing home and away games across six qualifying windows to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
In preparation for FIBA’s flagship men’s event, the Qualifiers will be played in four regions: Africa, Americas, Asia/Oceania, and Europe.
For the first time, the competition will be played across three host nations next August, including the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia.
